SCOTT DISAPPEARED 23 YEARS AGO

- By SOPHIE DOUGHTY

MISSING Robert Scott Clive had excitedly brought new clothes to wear for the night out on which he vanished.

Today marks 23 years since the 30-year-old disappeared without a trace just 10 months after moving to North Shields from Scotland.

Police initially treated Robert, who was known to his family as Scott, as a missing person, and what happened to him since he was last seen on October 10 2002 has remained a mystery.

But Scott's loved ones were given fresh hope for answers earlier this year when he investigation into what happened to him took a dramatic new twist.

Police arrested three people on suspicion of murder after searches began at a house near North Shields town centre, where officers said they believed Scott spent time on the night he vanished. Detectives also said they had new evidence that suggested Scott had been assaulted on the night he went missing.

But today the labourer's devastated mum is facing yet another heartbreaking anniversary not knowing what happened to her son. And as she lays bare her torment, Tricia Clive has revealed how in the final phone call Scott had with his family, hours before he vanished, he told of his excitement to go out on that fateful night.
