Malcolm makes move to the EFL

The former West Bromwich Albion academy product joined the Heed following a short trial period last summer and made his National League debut as a substitute in a 2-0 defeat at Forest Green Rovers.

A first league goal arrived with the only goal of a narrow home win against Wealdstone and that was the first of 13 goals in 45 appearances during what will now become his first and only season with the Tynesiders.

Malcolm was left out of the Gateshead squad for Saturday's National League opener against Southend United as Alun Armstrong's men fell to a 3-0 defeat at the International Stadium after they received a ‘five-figure’ bid from Stevenage on Friday.

Speaking after the defeat, Armstrong confirmed the club had received an offer for the striker but stressed the funds received from the deal will allow him to strengthen his squad over the coming weeks.
