Glory sprinkled as gritter driver wins accolade

Now a new name has been added to the True Grit list Durham County Council's Gary Lawson.

The council gritter driver, who this year marked 40 years of service, is celebrating after being officially named the first ever Gritter Driver of the Year at this year’s first ever Grit and Glory awards.

Gary Lawson, aged 62 from Crook, was recognised for his dedication to winter maintenance, his unwavering commitment to public safety, and his exceptional support for colleagues and communities across County Durham.
