Four suspects ruled out of Layton Carr fire death investigation

FOUR child suspects held over the death of teenager Layton Carr have now been ruled out of the probe.

The body of Layton, 14, was found after emergency services were called to a fire at a derelict building on a Gateshead industrial estate in May.

Since the tragedy, at the Fairfield Industrial Park in Bill Quay, police have arrested 26 children in connection with Layton’s death.

The suspects, all aged between 11 and 14, were questioned on suspicion of manslaughter before being released on bail. But now The Chronicle can reveal that four of the children have been told they will face no further police action.
