HUNDREDS of emergency 999 calls were made to Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service (TWFRS) on Bonfire Night as firefighters worked across the region to keep communities safe.

The period surrounding November 5 sees TWFRS experience additional demand on operational crews, Control Room colleagues and duty officers.
