Commanding Coetzer leads Cestrians’ charge

A BRILLIANT century from Kyle Coetzer helped Chester-le-Street to victory in their Premier Division clash at Burnopfield.

Openers Harry Crawshaw (98) and John Oswell (76) gave the hosts a flying start as they put on 131 for the first wicket, while Matthew Robinson and Jacob Hislop shared six wickets between them to keep the score down to 257-9.

The Cestrians then had a stuttering start, but Jacob McCann scored 33 and former Durham and Scotland star Coetzer struck a brilliant 117 off 117 balls, which included 16 fours.

Cole Pearce then hit 57 not out and Chester-le-Street went on to win with a total of 261-5.
