Airport expects busiest ever Easter for getaway

From today to Monday, April 21, more than 60,000 passengers are expected to travel through its terminal a 10% increase from 2024.

During the Easter school holidays, a total of 275,000 passengers are expected.

There are 414 flights across the four-day weekend, with Alicante, Tenerife, Mallorca and Dublin the most popular destinations. Additional services will take off to popular European cities such as Paris, Amsterdam, Malaga and Frankfurt.

Hannah and Chris, from County Durham, were heading to Ibiza with their two children Marley, four, and Livy, three.

They're planning to hit the island's beach clubs, as well as hiring a car and travelling around the island.

Hannah said: "We're excited for a break from work and a bit of time out. And we're looking forward to chasing our kids around in a different country!"
