Tributes paid to Hall of Famer Grenville
The Chester Chronicle
|May 29, 2025
CHESTER FC have paid tribute to a club legend after the sudden passing of Hall of Famer Grenville Millington.
The former goalkeeper had an association with the Blues of more than half a century, first proudly serving as a player and making more than 300 appearances for the club.
Post retirement, he represented the club as a goalkeeper coach, president of the former players' association, director, chairman, and most recently as the Legends Lounge hospitality host. He was the club's first inductee into the Hall of Fame and was also an honorary life vice-president.
Vice chairman Jim Green was saddened by the loss of a man that he worked closely with and respected.
Green said: "Grenville is a massive loss. He was obviously before my time as a supporter but everybody I have spoken to who watched him play has described him as the best goalkeeper the club has ever had.
"A legend on the pitch but for me he was a legend off the pitch. I worked quite closely with him. Especially when the club was reforming 15 years ago.
