Heroic Blues one step from glory

Calum McIntyre's side came through an epic National League North play-off semi-final at Kidderminster Harriers on Sunday, winning 2-1.

A trip to Scunthorpe United for the play-off final on Sunday May 18 (4pm) awaits, with promotion the prize.

And McIntyre was full of pride in his players for the way they dug in and persevered after going 1-0 down.

A europhic McIntyre said: “You have to remember there was a game of football played for 90 minutes.

“Now it’s about what's next, what it means and what it represents.

“I thought we were outstanding to a man. Absolutely first class in every department. The goal happened [Kidderminster scoring] and it’s a test for the players. What are they going to deliver against more adversity?

“Beacuse I went in to swap teamsheets at 2pm and was told by the referee that, at the insistence of the police force, any penalty kicks, should the game require them after extra time, would be taken at the Kidderminster end.
