Choir is on song with concert's UK premiere
The Chester Chronicle
|June 12, 2025
ONE of Chester's top choirs will make history when a new choral work has its UK premiere as part of a special summer concert.
Chester Bach Singers will perform Where Flies the Lark by Canadian composer and jazz pianist Benjamin Sigerson at the concert which is to take place at the Wesley Church Centre in St John Street, Chester, on Saturday, June 14, at 3pm.
The performance will be the first time the piece has been sung in public in the UK.
Entitled Taking Flight, the concert will showcase music on the themes of flight, air and nature. It will also be the first public performance for the choir under the baton of its new musical director Emma Baker who took up her role in April following the retirement in March of long-serving musical director Martin Bussey after more than 38 years with the choir.
