In the past week, the ten most valued companies in India collectively witnessed a market valuation decline of Rs 1,93,181.15 crore, a consequence of the bearish trend in the equity market. The BSE benchmark index tumbled by 2.46 percent, shedding 1,614.82 points during the holiday-shortened week.
Among these top companies, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and HDFC Bank incurred the most significant losses. TCS saw its market valuation plunge by Rs 52,580.57 crore to reach Rs 12,25,983.46 crore, making it the most affected among the top 10 firms. HDFC Bank’s market capitalization also took a hit, decreasing by Rs 40,562.71 crore to reach Rs 11,14,185.78 crore.
Reliance Industries Limited witnessed a drop in its valuation by Rs 22,935.65 crore, resulting in a market capitalization of Rs 15,32,595.88 crore. Similarly, Infosys saw its market cap tumble by Rs 19,320.04 crore, reaching Rs 5,73,022.78 crore.
Other prominent companies affected include Bharti Airtel, with a fall of Rs 17,161.01 crore in its market capitalization to Rs 5,13,735.07 crore, and Bajaj Finance, which experienced a decline of Rs 15,759.95 crore to reach Rs 4,54,814.95 crore.
