Supreme Court To ED: Don’t Harass TN District Collectors Unnecessarily

The Supreme Court in the case Directorate of Enforcement v. State of Tamil Nadu & Ors. was hearing the Enforcement Directorate's, ED petition against certain District Collectors of Tamil Nadu over their nonappearance in relation to a sand mining money laundering case.

The Supreme Court told the agency that it must not 'harass' the Collectors unnecessarily.
The bench comprising of Justice Bela M Trivedi and Justice Pankaj Mithal was hearing the present matter.
Earlier, the bench deprecated the Collectors for their refusal to appear before Enforcement Directorate's, ED despite the direction of courts to appear and respond to the summons.
The counsel, Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal appearing on behalf of Tamil Nadu, informed the court that the District Collectors appeared before ED pursuant to the last hearing.
While agreeing with Sibal to that extent, the counsel, Advocate Zoheb Hossain appearing for the Enforcement Directorate, ED stated that though the Collectors appeared, they did not furnish the documents or details asked for.
