Supreme Court Imposed Rs10 Lakh On West Bengal For Filing Delayed And Baseless Petition Against Employee's Retiral Dues

The court in the case observed and has expressed its dismay over the State's action to revive the disciplinary proceedings years after an employee's retirement, especially on the same grounds as previously concluded inquiries.
The Supreme Court in the case The State Of West Bengal And Ors Versus Md. Kamaluddin Ansari And Ors observed and has imposed an amount of ₹10 Lakh cost on the State of West Bengal for filing a delayed and baseless petition against an employee's rightful retiral dues, which had remained unpaid for 18 years.
The court directed that the cost is to be paid to the retired employee i.e., the respondent in the case.
The bench comprising of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehta was hearing the present matter.
The bench in the case was hearing the matter which relates to a retired employee who had not received his retiral dues since his retirement in 2007.
