Supreme Court allows temporary allocation of fixed spot for meat vendors in Panjim

The Supreme Court in the case The Corporation Of The City Of Panaji Versus Mushtak Hussain Khatib observed and has allowed displaced meat vendors which is to be allotted fixed spots in a temporary fish market in Panjim, Goa after City Corporation's demolition of the building where the vendors were lessees for over 30 years.

The bench comprising of Justice BV Nagarathna and Justice SC Sharma was hearing the present matter.

The bench in the case was hearing the challenge to the Bombay High Court order, wherein the court directed the Corporation of the City of Panaji, CCP to construct and maintain public markets and slaughterhouses, and to regulate all markets and slaughterhouses in the interim period, in the public interest.

The court issued the said directions in light of the demolition of the building where the respondents were carrying out trade operations.
