The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), which safeguards the retirement savings of over 270 million Indian workers, is moving ahead with a massive revamp of its digital infrastructure.
As part of this upgrade, EPFO has issued an Expression of Interest (EOI) inviting proposals from technology providers to help overhaul its existing IT platform.
However, the process has triggered sharp criticism from industry stakeholders, digital policy experts, and leading IT firms, who allege that the tender's conditions appear structured to favor a select few companies.
A controversial clause in the EOI mandates that participating firms must have previously implemented a Core Banking Solution (CBS) in a scheduled commercial bank.
