PM MODI TO INAUGURATE BIGGEST EWS HOUSING PROJECT

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the largest housing project for economically weaker sections in Solapur, Maharashtra, next month, according to a senior government official. The project, located in Raynagar, spans 100 acres and comprises 30,000 homes, with 15,000 already built. Each house is 300 sq ft and costs 6 lakh for beneficiaries with an annual family income of less than 3 lakh. The project is executed by the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (Mhada) with assistance from the central government's PMAY scheme. It benefits unorganised workers, textile workers, beedi workers, and more.

Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Dharavi redevelopment project is expected to be signed soon, with plans for similar cluster-based development projects across the state. The government aims to emphasize affordable housing, encourage "walking to work," improve work-life balance, introduce smart home technology, and prioritize homes for senior citizens and students. The policy will also address the issue of skilled manpower.
