RRTS is a dedicated high-speed, high-capacity commuter service, revolutionizing India's transportation with reliable, high-frequency, point-to-point regional travel.

PM LAUNCHES INDIA'S FIRST HIGH-SPEED INTERCITY TRAIN SYSTEM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Corridor at the Sahibabad RapidX station in Uttar Pradesh. This state-of-the-art regional mobility solution aims to enhance regional connectivity by introducing new world-class transport infrastructure.

During the inauguration, Prime Minister Modi also flagged off the first RapidX train connecting Sahibabad to Duhai Depot. This marked the official launch of the RRTS in India, with the train being named "Namo Bharat." The 17 km priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor connects Sahibabad to Duhai Depot, featuring stations at Ghaziabad, Guldhar, and Duhai. The foundation stone for this corridor was laid by the Prime Minister on March 8, 2019.

With the RRTS service operational, the travel time between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot is reduced to just 12 minutes, a significant improvement from the typical 30-35-minute road commute. The RRTS project aligns with Prime Minister Modi's vision to transform regional connectivity by establishing new world-class transport infrastructure. The RRTS is a rail-based, semi-high-speed, high-frequency commuter transit system, offering a design speed of 180 kmph.
