In February, domestic air traffic in India experienced a modest yet noticeable uptick, with a 4.8 percent increase compared to the same period last year, reaching 126.48 lakh passengers.

However, this figure marked a decline from January's 1.31 crore passengers. Official data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) also revealed that over 1.55 lakh passengers faced flight delays during February.
Market share dynamics among airlines shifted slightly, with Air India seeing a rise from 12.2 percent to 12.8 percent, while IndiGo's share marginally dipped from 60.2 percent to 60.1 percent.
The total number of passengers carried by domestic airlines during January and February 2024 was 257.78 lakh, reflecting a 4.74 percent annual growth and a 4.80 percent monthly increase compared to the same period in the previous year.
Flight disruptions continued to pose challenges, with 29,143 passengers affected by cancellations in February. Scheduled carriers incurred expenses of Rs 222.11 lakh for facilitating delayed flights and Rs 99.96 lakh for compensating affected passengers.
