Operation Sindoor: India's Decisive and Landmark Strike on Cross-Border Terrorism and the Dawn of a New India
The Business Guardian
|May 08, 2025
India launched "Operation Sindoor" on the early morning of May 7, 2025, to target the training establishments and other infrastructure of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, the most sought-after international terrorist organizations located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This was in response to the deadly terror attack on innocent civilians in Pahalgam, in which 26 civilians were killed on April 22, 2025.
This precise and accomplished joint operation of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force was successfully carried out using advanced weaponry systems, including Rafale fighter planes, missiles, and loitering munitions.
Operation Sindoor reflects the excellence of military operations combined with the determination of the Indian government and all three branches of the Indian armed forces, intelligence agencies like RAW, and paramilitary forces.
The Rafale is one of the most experienced twin-jet fighter aircraft, having proven its capabilities in various operations worldwide. Its wingspan is around 11 meters, length is 15.30 meters, height is 5.30 meters, its overall empty weight is 10 tons, and the maximum takeoff weight is around 25 tons. It has a maximum speed of 1.8 Mach and can operate up to an altitude of 50,000 feet. It is capable of precision strikes using advanced hypersonic, supersonic, or nuclear missiles and other important assets. Its navigation and counterstrike capabilities are among the best in the world.
The SCALP missile, also known as Storm Shadow, is a long-range missile developed by the France-based MBDA systems. The SCALP missile is ideal for quick air-to-surface attacks on fixed or stationary targets such as bunkers, buildings, and other solid infrastructures. The missile weighs around 1300 kg, is 5.1 meters long, 630 mm wide, and 480 mm high, with a wingspan of 3 meters. It is operated by the Microturbo TRI 60-30 Turbojet and carries a multistage BROBROACH penetration warhead weighing around 450 kg.
