Meta unveils AI tool 'SAM' that can identify objects
The Business Guardian
|April 08, 2023
Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has announced the release of its Segment Anything Model (SAM), an artificial intelligence model that can identify individual objects within an image
-
The company claims that the dataset accompanying the model is the largest of its kind. The SAM model uses generative AI and can identify objects within images and videos, even if it hasn’t encountered them before. The tool can be used by clicking on an object or writing text prompts. For example, writing the word “cat” prompted the tool to draw boxes around each of several cats in a photo.
