IndiGo, India’s premier airline, anticipates a slowdown in capacity growth for the upcoming year , signaling a strategic shift in its expansion trajectory
-
InterGlobe Aviation Ltd., the parent company of India's largest airline, IndiGo, recently outlined its forecast for slower capacity growth in the fiscal year commencing April 1. In an analyst presentation, the budget carrier projected a growth rate in capacity in the "early double digits," accompanied by a similar increase in the number of passengers flown.
This trajectory represents a deceleration compared to the growth observed in the December quarter and the guidance provided for the ongoing financial year.
During the last quarter, IndiGo experienced robust expansion, with capacity increasing by nearly 27% and the number of passengers carried rising by over 23%.
The airline successfully met its previous guidance of capacity expansion exceeding the "north of mid-teens" mark and flying more than 100 million passengers in the financial year ending March 31.
