India's Youth Drive Innovation Surge as Patent Applications Soar

In a recent development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised India's increasing patent applications as a testament to the growing innovative spirit among the country's youth.

This positive acknowledgment came in response to a report from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) that highlighted India's remarkable performance in the field of intellectual property.

According to the WIPO report, India witnessed an impressive 31.6% growth in patent applications by its residents in the year 2022. This remarkable surge in patent filings extended India's impressive streak of growth in this domain, which has lasted for 11 consecutive years. Notably, India's consistent growth in patent applications stands unrivalled by any other nation within the top 10 filers.

The WIPO report also unveiled that leading the pack in patent filings were China, the United States, Japan, South Korea, and Germany. While these countries retained their strong positions, it was India's striking rise that caught global attention.
