INDIA'S FDI FALLS 13 PER CENT TO $32 BILLION
The Business Guardian
|March 01, 2024
According to the latest government data released by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows in India experienced a significant decline of 13 per cent to 32.03 billion dollar during the period of April-December 2023.
-

This downturn was attributed to lower investments in sectors such as computer hardware and software, telecom, auto, and pharma.
Comparatively, FDI inflows stood at 36.74 billion dollar during the same nine-month period in the last fiscal year. However, there was a positive development in the October-December quarter of the current fiscal, with FDI inflows rising by 18 per cent to 11.6 billion dollar as opposed to 9.83 billion dollar during the corresponding quarter of 2022-23.
The total FDI, including equity inflows, reinvested earnings, and other capital, saw a slide of approximately 7 per cent to 51.5 billion dollar during the period under review, compared to 55.27 billion dollar in April-December 2022.
