November 04, 2023

With Indian consumers are now demanding high quality goods and services, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has sought harmonization of standards with international bodies, to help India adopt standards that are globally accepted, and underlined the need for industry to move out of the mindset of 'two standards of everything'. "Our effort is that every product that is made in India will be a high quality product," Goyal said at a 'G20 Standards Dialogue' at Bharat Mandapam on Friday.

GOYAL CALLS FOR MAKING HIGH QUALITY GOODS FOR ALL CONSUMERS

While the Government is stepping up help and support for producers to adapt to new quality standards and ensure that India becomes recognized as a provider of good quality products, Goyal highlighted the importance of ensuring that a product picked up by consumers in India should be of assured high quality. Goyal suggested creating a robust framework to engage with developed nations in developing high quality such as G20 Standards Dialogue, for the countries who need it, especially India as it looks to upgrade it's standards ecosystem like test labs and sign mutual recognition agreements with other countries.
