Gol's fiscal deficit at Rs 15 lakh cr is 86.5% of full FY24 target

India’s fiscal deficit during April-February 2024 stood at Rs 15 lakh crore, or 86.5 per cent of the revised full FY24 target, up from Rs 82.8 per cent in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Fiscal deficit, which is the difference between the total expenditure and revenue of the government, signal the total borrowings that are needed by the Government. The primary deficit and revenue deficit stand at 91.3 per cent and 87 per cent respectively, of the actuals to revised estimates in February 2024 as compared to 80.4 per cent and 83 per cent  of the actuals to revised estimates in the corresponding period of the previous year.
