Delhi HC questions arbitrariness in bungalow allotment for Kejriwal

The Delhi High Court on Thursday said that the allotment of government accommodation cannot be left to the “whims” of authorities, as it heard a petition filed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) seeking a bungalow forts national convener and former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in the capital.

Justice Sachin Datta directed the joint secretary of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the director of the Directorate of Estates to appear virtually before the court on September 25. The bench questioned the transparency of the allotment system.
“Is there a procedure in place? I want to see how this procedure has been applied in the past. How is priority taken into account, how is the sequence of allotment decided? Assuming there are limited bungalows, how do you choose?” the court asked.
