Delhi HC mandates free treatment for sexual assault and POCSO victims

In a landmark ruling, the Delhi High Court has mandated that victims of rape, acid attacks, sexual assaults, and survivors of POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) cases are entitled to free medical treatment in government and private healthcare facilities, including nursing homes.
This directive aims to ensure that survivors of sexual violence receive immediate and comprehensive medical care without financial barriers.
The judgment was delivered by a division bench comprising Justice Prathiba M. Singh and Justice Amit Sharma.
The Court emphasized that all Central and State Government-funded institutions, private hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes must comply with the directive.
The ruling encompasses not just initial medical care but also a wide range of necessary services.
