Commercial LPG prices rise Rs 25 in India

Commercial LPG cylinder prices in India witnessed a hike of Rs 25 on Friday, with the cost of a 19 kg cylinder reaching Rs 1,795 in Delhi.

In Mumbai, customers will now pay Rs 1,749 per cylinder, while in Kolkata and Chennai, the prices stand at Rs 1,911 and Rs 1,960.5 respectively. Last month, ahead of Budget 2024, the price in Delhi was raised by Rs 14 to Rs 1,770.

State-owned oil companies, including Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL), adjust prices monthly based on international averages. Notably, domestic LPG cylinder rates remain unchanged. In December last year, commercial cylinder prices were slashed by Rs 39.

Meanwhile, the Centre increased the windfall tax on petroleum crude to Rs 4,600 per metric ton from Rs 3,300, effective March 1.

Additionally, the windfall tax on diesel was reduced to zero from Rs 1.50 per litre on the same date. However, taxes on petrol and aviation turbine fuel remain unchanged.
