84% respondents positive about GST in 2024, call for rationalizing rates

A leading industry survey on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime which is set to complete seven years shows growing confidence in GST with about 84 per cent of respondents reporting a positive perception of GST in 2024, up from 72 per cent in 2023 and 59 percent in 2022 and about 73 percent of respondents citing competitive pricing as GST's greatest business operational benefit.
Deloitte's GST survey that captures the sentiment of India Inc, is the third edition of the exercise, covering various aspects of GST with 760+ responses from key sectors, including consumer, energy, resources and industrials, life sciences and healthcare, technology, media and telecommunications, banking and other financial services, and government and public services. The survey aimed to assess industry perspectives on GST's influence and regulatory effectiveness in enhancing business operations and compliance.
