House prices rise but city lags behind the North East average

Home owners in Sunderland have seen the value of their properties increase slightly despite difficult economic conditions.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show the average house price in the city in the year to October was £143,189 - a 0.1% increase on September.
