Community steps in to help a baby bank support more families in need

From its base in Hendon, the Love, Amelia baby bank has helped tens of thousands of children and families in Sunderland and beyondand now they can help even more after the community rallied round to expand the premises.

The unveiling of the new extended Love, Amelia premises with founder Steph Capewell, Gentoo CE Louise Bassett and the team behind the works.

Led by Gentoo and their supply chain partners including Jewson Partnership Solutions, who delivered works in kind, the premises in Glaholm Road in Hendon Industrial Estate have been expanded and renovated.

It means the award-winning charity can provide even more new and good quality preloved items and equipment to children, aged from birth to 16-years-old, who are experiencing poverty and hardship.

Currently, the charity helps around 400 to 500 families a month.

Steph Capewell, founder and chief executive of Love, Amelia, said: "This space has allowed us to grow our office space for the team so they can do their roles for families.
