Cafu ready for biggest fight of his career in Texas

WORLD Boxing Organisation (WBO) super flyweight champion Phumelela “The Truth” Cafu is set for the biggest fight of his professional career when he steps into the ring later this month to take on American Jesse Rodriguez in a high-stakes junior bantamweight unification bout.

The clash, scheduled to take place at The Star’s Ford Center in Frisco, Texas, will not only see Cafu defend his WBO belt for the first time, but it will also have the World Boxing Council (WBC) and prestigious Ring Magazine super flyweight titles on the line.

With all three belts at stake, the fight represents a massive opportunity for Cafu to further cement his name on the world stage.

The South African stunned the boxing world last October when he overcame highly rated Japanese fighter Kosei Tanaka in Tokyo. Dropping Tanaka in the fifth round, Cafu ultimately secured the WBO title via a hard-fought split decision at the end of twelve rounds.
