'ROOT WILL BEAT SACHIN TO BE GREATEST RUN-SCORER
Sunday People
|August 10, 2025
IT'S now only a matter of time before Joe Root becomes the highest runscorer in the history of Test cricket, reckons Stuart Broad.
Root (right) is second in the all-time list after another prolific summer for his country - but he still remains 2,378 runs behind India great Sachin Tendulkar's record of 15,921.
Broad feels only injury or a loss of form will prevent the 34-year-old eclipsing the Mumbai-born Little Master in the next three years - and has made a tantalising prediction on how Root could achieve immortality.
Broad said: "I don't just think Root can break Tendulkar's record, I think he WILL break it.
