Killers & terrorist win court battles

TAXPAYERS will have to cough up an estimated £1million bill for prisoners who sued over being held in solitary confinement.

The money has been paid out in compensation and costs to three killers and a terror plotter.

Fuad Awale, who shot two men in the head in 2011 and took a prison officer hostage in 2013, has been given £7,500 in compensation and £234,000 in costs after claiming HMP Woodhill, Bucks, breached his human rights.

Awale, 36, claimed he got "severe depression" when put in a segregation unit for dangerous inmates.

Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick said: "It's a sick joke."
