WOMAN'S ALERT AS ONLINE LOVE TURNS OUT TO BE SCAMMER

A DISABLED Midland woman has warned people to be on their guard after she lost £11,000 to a romance scammer.

Superfan, Lisa Nock, 44, said she was drawn in by a Instagram account of Dr Chris - an Australian vet best known for the television series Bondi Vet.

The crook running the account posed as Dr Chris Brown when Lisa contacted him, thinking she was talking to the real vet.

And she told how the conversation turned romantic when the fraudster began “love bombing” Lisa and even proposed to her.

Believing they were couple, Lisa, of Staffordshire, transferred money to the fraudster, intended for flights and visas to visit her in the UK.

Over the course of 18 months, Lisa transferred £11,000 through multiple cryptocurrency wallets, with the biggest single payment being £7,000.

The funds - most of which were from Lisa's disability allowance meant she went without taekwondo and swimming lessons to fund the con.

When she realised she was being scammed, Lisa reported the fraudster to West Midlands Police in January.
