Mother and her two children survived road crash horror which left three teenagers dead

- STEPHANIE BALLOO News Reporter

'I should feel lucky for surviving, but I feel the furthest thing from lucky'

A MUM whose car was smashed into by a careless teenage driver - killing his three passengers - has spoken out on the horrifying impact of the collision.

The mother, who did not want to be named, still has "nightmares and flashbacks" after being behind the wheel of the second car involved in the Shipston triple tragedy.

The driver, along with her two children, were seriously injured as a car driven by teenager Edward Spencer, then 17, smashed into them.

The three passengers and fellow pupils inside his car, Tilly Seccombe, 16, Harry Purcell, 17 and Frank Wormald, 16, all died from their injuries as they made their way home from school.

Judge Andrew Lockhart KC was told Spencer, of Armscote Road, Newbold-on-Stour, Warwickshire, only passed his driving test six weeks earlier but social media videos discovered after the crash exposed a history of "showing off, driving too quickly and failing to heed the warnings of those who were in the car with him".

The mum and her two children, who were seriously injured in the second car, are still receiving treatment in the form of various operations, therapies and hospital appointments following the crash.

Spencer, aged 19, was jailed for two years.

The mum spoke of the "intense fear" she felt at the time of the collision, alongside the "nightmares" of the three teens who died and of her "own children dead in the backseats".
