Chinese at cutting edge of EV tech with flash charging as quick as petrol filling

HERE is a car whose boot is specially designed for the European market.

I have no idea if different markets have different-sized bags but it tickles me that Chinese company BYD should go to such lengths for us.

(They have even set up a European factory.)

I guess, though, it is such attention to detail that has brought them sales of 15,000 in the UK already this year.

In fact, the stats are fantastic - 25,000 BYD cars on British roads altogether, globally BYD has outgunned Tesla and they have not even entered the American market yet.

So what have we here? It is the BYD Surf, an all-electric super mini hatch underpinned by BYD's dedicated EV 3.0 platform, blade battery integrated into the car, and eight in one powertrain.

It was unveiled by BYD supremo Stella Li at Alexandra Palace where she also revealed ambitious plans for future electric charging.
