HIBS boss David Gray insists Kieron Bowie provided the perfect response to his Scotland snub after grabbing a goal and an assist in this comfortable victory.

The striker ended his nine-game goal drought with a well-taken first-half strike - just moments after missing a sitter.

Bowie then teed up Jamie McGrath to slam in the second against Dundee.

It was a long two weeks for the 23-year-old after he was omitted from the national squad that sealed World Cup qualification last Tuesday.

But Gray was thrilled to see Bowie back on the goals trail and reckons displays like this will put him in contention for being on the plane for North America next summer.

Gray, whose team remain third in the table ahead of Rangers on goal difference, said: "Strikers get confidence from scoring goals clearly but I've had a lot of conversations with Kieran about what he actually does for the team.

"It's not just scoring goals, I know that's what they get judged on but the rest of the players certainly benefit from unselfish work he does for the team.
