GORDON STRACHAN says there's NO ONE better equipped to be Scotland boss than Steve Clarke.

STRACHAN:NO ONE BETTER THAN CLARKE

And he admits his old international teammate has turned our players into Hampden heroes.

Clarke extended his stay as gaffer this week by signing a new four-year contract ahead of next month's World Cup.

Clarke's squad leave today for the USA where they'll face Haiti, Morocco and Brazil in Group C.

And one of his predecessors, Strachan, insists it was a no-brainer to keep him in charge.

Strachan once famously said Scotland lacked a world class talent like Wales had with Gareth Bale.

But he believes Clarke now has some top talent at his disposal. And he says there's no other manager out there who could do a better job.

Strachan said: "I don't know of anyone who would do a better job than Steve right now.

"He enjoys the job, the players like him as the manager and there's a great group of coaching staff - so why change?
