42-year-old Craig Gordon would get the nod.

And he certainly didn't let his manager down.

The Hearts shot-stopper hasn't played in six months but with all his caps and experience, Clarke was always going to go with him over Liam Kelly and Scott Bain.

Gordon will never be the best goalie in the world with the ball at his feet.

But in terms of keeping it out the net, he's still got terrific ability as he showed against the Greeks.

In the first half alone, he pulled off four brilliant saves to keep the scoreline at 1-0. He will feel he could have done better with Tzolis' strike for Greece's third goal but Gordon justified Clarke's decision to pick him.

Given what was at stake in this tie, Scotland's start to the game was bizarre and strangely sloppy.
