Parents support domestic abuse Bill

THE parents of murdered Claire Inglis are to share their heart-breaking story with MSPs as they back new laws to protect domestic abuse victims.

- BY JENNIFER HYLAND

Ian and Fiona will tell of their harrowing experience of the 28-year-old's death in the hope of saving other women and families from a similar hell.

Christopher McGowan was jailed for the brutal killing of Claire six weeks after being freed to live at the Stirling flat she shared with her son.

It was later revealed he had 39 convictions, including violence and aggravated domestic assault.

A Bill tabled by MSP Pam Gosal is being considered by Holyrood's Criminal Justice Committee, which would mean perpetrators convicted of domestic abuse offences would be subject to controls similar to a sex offenders' register.

It has now gone to the consultation process and Claire's parents hope it will become law.
