Mobile use in bed causing insomnia rise

THE number of insomnia cases in the UK has surged, with people staring at phones in bed at fault.

Hospital appointments have almost doubled in the last four years, NHS data shows with the rise down to the "24-hour on" culture.

Last year there were 33,138 times doctors noted a patient had insomnia — almost 100 every day.
