Tens of thousands to join fight for higher mis-selling payouts

TENS of thousands of Scots victims of an £8billion car finance mis-selling scandal could join a class action to demand better payouts.

Victims of inflated car loan deals between April 2007 and November last year are in line for payouts under a new compensation scheme.

But with 14million car finance agreements affected, compensation for motorists is expected to be about £700 per deal – down from the Financial Conduct Authority's previous estimate of £950 following a ruling by the UK Supreme Court in August which limited the breadth of cases.
