Councils snare own as they rake in £1m in paving parking

COUNCILS racking up £1 million by fining drivers for parking on pavements have slapped tickets on their own vehicles.

Local authority drivers have been among those fined for breaking new street laws to protect pedestrians, kids in prams and wheelchair users.

Perth and Kinross Council admitted two of its vehicles, complete with council livery, suffered £200 in fines this year for parking on the pavement.

Four vehicles run by the City of Edinburgh Council were also snared by parking attendants, costing the local authority £150.
