Older staff less keen than younger ones on 16-year-olds having their say in elections
THEY are arguably the best judge on 16-year-olds getting the vote but teachers are split on the issue - depending on their age.
Over all, 47 per cent are in favour, while 38 per cent disagree and 15 per cent are neutral.
The poll of 9626 staff showed a marked difference in opinion depending on the teacher's age.
Those in their 20s were the most in favour - 51 per cent compared to 35 per cent against.
Thirty-somethings were behind at 49 per cent to 35 per cent while those in their 40s supported the plan by 45 per cent to 39 per cent.
The over-50s were the only age group against the decision - by 44 per cent to 43 per cent.
