The former home of our Bard has been in the news recently with a push for its survival.

Campaigners are trying to raise £12million to save the historic Ellisland Farm on the outskirts of Dumfries.

The buildings require extensive repair and restoration but it is hoped that they can become a world-class tourist destination.

As a Doonhamer, I always feel my home town is missing a trick with the Burns connection. He spent so much time there and it is where he rests in St Michael's graveyard.
