But just days later the full scale of fan mutiny hit home as thousands ignored the pandemic protocols and protested against the board before a Parkhead clash with Kilmarnock amid a season that was spiralling out of control.
Fast forward five years and the mood among the support was almost identical - only this time there was no hiding behind video screens from the chaos, the red cards and the chants.
