Truss: My trans Bill will protect children

LIZ TRUSS is drawing up a draft law that will challenge Rishi Sunak to ban the prescription of "body-altering hormones" to children "questioning their sex".

The former prime minister wants to make it illegal for healthcare professionals to give minors with gender dysphoria drugs which "stop or delay the normal onset of puberty": She believes children should be prevented from "making irreversible decisions which could leave them with long-term regret". Her Bill, which would also change the law to define sex as "biological sex", goes before MPs on Friday.

Ms Truss also hopes to combat "extreme trans activism" and ensure single-sex spaces and toilets are "sacrosanct".

She says she was motivated to act after contact with worried mothers of young girls in her South West Norfolk constituency.
