Terror attack using driverless cars 'inevitable'

TERRORISTS using driverless cars as lethal weapons may be “inevitable”, a minister has admitted. 

The tech is set to be commonplace within 20 years. But Mr Norman also believes the innovation will save

lives by reducing traffic accidents. He was responding to concerns raised by the Motor

Insurers’ Bureau, which told MPs that self-driving cars could be “hacked” and controlled remotely by terrorists.

Mr Norman said: “We cannot rule it out, and indeed in some respects it looks like it is inevitable, that there will be attacks and that some of them will be successful.

“But we can take every step we can possibly imagine to try to head them off.”
