Scientists' £6.7m hi-tech drive to tackle dementia

CUTTING-EDGE technology will be harnessed by British scientists to help tackle memory loss and other dementia symptoms so people can live at home for longer.

A £6.7million funding package will help experts create ways to help people cope with everyday tasks and overcome difficulties with communication.

The goal is to slow the progress of the disease and maximise the time people can spend “safely and happily” in their own homes.

Nearly nine out of 10 people would prefer to stay at home for as long as possible if diagnosed with dementia, according to an Alzheimer's Society survey, but many cannot.
